Wood Treatment - Spoon "Butter" - Coating to Protect Your Lath and Wood Pieces, 4oz

A jar of Spoon Butter, made to protect your wooden items. Intended to be used on our Lath products, but also useful on other wooden items in the kitchen and anywhere else, a re-treatment is necessary.

This is what we use for the final coat of our lath objects. Not everybody could afford silver utensils, in the old days many had spoons just out of wood. Before stainless steel utensils came up - "spoon butter" was used to protect wooden spoons and impregnate against the soapy water for cleaning. To occasionally refresh the finish of our lath wood, we offer our chemical-free Spoon "Butter" that we make in our own shop. As basis we use organic linseed oil, as it was used for centuries to protect wood from water and weather. The organic linseed oil is truly boiled, not just a 'say-so' like on other products you might find. That boiling process keeps the oil from getting rancid and helps it to penetrate the wood deeply and we mix it with organic bees wax, for a smooth finish and even more protection of your wood.

In the first month after application, linseed oil has a distinctive smell, that will fade over time. As that is simply the smell of centuries worth of experience in preserving wood, we refrain from adding scents to it.
