Felted woolen winter mittens

Traditional mittens used for hiking and skiing high up in the alps of France, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Your thumbs have maximum mobility but the other fingers can better warm themselves. You see them already on the old Daguerrotype photos from the 1800s of skiers in the European alpine region. The alpine sheep wool is knit by the Austrian Huber family business in the Dachstein Mountain area, in an old family tradition. As felted, they need to be carefully washed by hand - or dry cleaned. Do not use a regular washer, do not put them in a dryer.
